Directly behind the lanai are three
Purple King Palms (Archontophoenix purpurea)
which
were three different heights when planted to give them a natural
"staggered" look. The large green
plant in the middle right is an Agave.
This is a side view of the back planter.
In the far back left you can see the row of Areca Palms (Dypsis
lutescens). To the right of that
is a silver-leafed palm called a Bismark Palm (Bismarkia nobilis).
Next to that is another orange bromeliad (Aechmea blanchetiana).
The two palms with "V" shaped leaves are Tri-Bear Hybrids (Dypsis
leptocheilos x decaryi F1). There
is actually one more that is not visible in this picture. The blue
flowered plants are Plumbago and the purple flower bush in the left
center is Mexican Petunia (Ruella brittioniana).
The vine growing on the wall is night-blooming Jasmine. There are
two bromeliads hidden in the center of the picture: Androlepis
skinneri and Aechmea 'Peach
Delight'.
Here is a close-up of some of the back
bed: Silver Bismark with Blueberry Flax Lily underneath, an orange
bromeliad (Aechmea blanchetiana)
with a pink Canna Lily to the right of it. Behind the Bismark is a
red
Hibiscus tree.
A Balinese tiki made by our late tiki-carver
David Lewis adds to the tropical element. To the far left you can
see the Aechmea 'Peach Delight' bromeliad and the Hibiscus tree above
that. The bushes in front are Blue Plumbago. Notice all the
different leaf shapes and colors in this picture!
