This Canary Island Date Palm has been way
over-trimmed.
This
practice is not healthy for the
palm because it
reduces leaf surface
area, invites pests
and disease into
the crown, and
stunts the growth of
the palm.

RIGHT: This Coconut Palm has had an appropriate amount of leaves removed and still looks "full". Its coconuts, seed racks, and trunk fibers have been removed as well to show off its green and gold colors. (This is actually called "palm detailing".) |
