WHERE WE SHIP:
Since almost all
bromeliads are air plants, they do not rely on moisture in their soil to
survive. This makes them ideal plants to ship bare-root, meaning
without any soil. Soil-free plants can be shipped to all US states
and almost all foreign countries. Once your bromeliads arrive,
remove the paper from the base of each plant and pot them up using
fast-draining potting soil, mulch, or a combination of both.
WHEN WE SHIP:
Orders are packaged
and shipped 3-8 days after they are made. After you pay for your
order through
Google Chekout we will email you with
an exact shipping date. Domestic orders are shipped via USPS
priority mail and usually take 1-3 days to reach your door. International orders are shipped via USPS
Global Priority (6-10 days). ARE PACKAGES ARE INSULATED SO WE
CAN SHIP ANY TIME OF YEAR
WHY BROMELIADS:
Indoors, they make
excellent colorful ornamentals that also clean the air and provide fresh
oxygen. Outdoors, they are very low-maintenance plants compared to
most other flowering bushes and small trees. They don't require
any fertilizer, pest control, or trimming and need very little
maintenance. In fact, bromeliads used in landscaping in South
Florida, Texas, and Hawaii can literally live off rain water and don't
need any irrigation! In addition to this, they provide erosion
control, create nice groundcover, and compliment most other
Tropical/Mediterranean plants and trees.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
Bromeliads typically have
a 2-4 year life span. In this time, the plant will grow to it's
mature size, bloom, and produce small offsets or "pups". Once the
plant has finished blooming, it will live another 6-12 months and then
die. By the time it dies, its pups will be about 1/2 the size of
their mature size and the life cycle continues. Most bromeliads
produce 2-5 pups before dying. The pups can be removed at the base
when they are 1/3 the size of the mother plant, or you can leave them
on. The more often you remove the mom's pups, the more she will
produce, in an attempt to pass on her second generation. We have
been able to harvest 15 pups off the mother plant of some Portea
and Aechmea species!
