Bromelia
Watch out!
These ones are sharp! Bromelia is a group of bromeliads similar to
Ananas (Pineapples).
However, these have sharp hooks on all their leaves and produce
medium-size yellow berries. Most of these come from Argentina and
surrounding countries where some farmers use them as living barb-wire
(to keep out unwanted animal predators). We recommend these be
planted far from any walkways or places where children may play.
They're not all bad though... the leaves turn bright red once they get
more mature! Also, these particular bromeliads are very tough,
drought-tolerant, and cold-tolerant.
