HOW WE SHIP PLANTS
Most live plants are
actually very easy to ship through the mail as long as they are treated and
packaged correctly.
Palms
We ship palm trees bare-root
(most soil removed) or in the container to anywhere in the United States except
for Texas and California. Some palms in our inventory were purchased at
nurseries that are certified for all 50 states, which allows us to ship them to
California and Texas as well. All plants are shipped within 7-14 days of
payment. We use USPS Priority mail to ensure a fast 2-3 day transit time.
By purchasing from our website, you are agreeing to our
Terms and Conditions. All palms we ship go through a 3-step process:
1) Root ball is treated with plant hormones to ensure a
successful transplant.
2) Leaves are coated with an all-natural antitranspirant
which prevents wilting and insulates against cold.
3) Palm is carefully packaged using moist newspaper which
also insulates against cold.
This method allows small
palms to survive in their package for up to 33 days (most species).
Bromeliads
These are even easier to
ship through the mail as they don't require their roots to be wrapped. We
package bromeliads in moist newspaper which keeps the humidity inside the box
high.
Upon receipt, bromeliads
should be planted into soil or tied up in a tree. Be sure to pour some
fresh water into the center of the plants immediately.
Orchids
Orchids are even easier to
ship than bromeliads since all they require is humidity. The leaves and/or
flower spikes can be fragile however, so the packaging step is crucial.
