HYBRID PALM TREES
(updated 5/17/13)
Hybrid palm trees are developed by cross-pollinating two
different palm species.
The resulting hybrid is typically:
·Faster-growing, ·Less dependant on fertilizer·More drought-tolerant ·More resistant to pests·More adaptable to full sun or shade ·More beautiful than its parents. ·More adaptable to different soil types*NEW* Mule Palm (xButiagrus Nabonnandii)One of the first
palm tree hybrids, the Mule Palm is a hybrid between the common Pindo
Palm (Butia capitata) and Queen Palm (Syagrus romanzoffiana). It
is fast-growing, extremely drought-tolerant, and bears a slight
resemblance to the common Coconut Palm. It tolerates hard freezes
down to 15 deg F. We have 12ft specimens available by special
order (above).
Chamaedorea 'Florida hybrid' (C. erumpens x C.
seifrizii)This is a
bullet-proof palm for an outdoor location in shade or indoors. It
is a robust grower, handles low light, and requires little to no
fertilizer. Cold hardy down to about 30 deg F.
*NEW* Teddy
Bear Triangle Palm; Red Triangle Hybrid; Tri-Bear (Dypsis leptocheilos x decaryi)We
engineered this species by cross-pollinating a Teddy Bear
Palm and a Triangle Palm. The resulting hybrid is fast-growing,
drought-tolerant, handles full sun or shade, requires little to no
fertilizer, and handles light frosts. We are the only mail-order nursery in the world to
sell this exciting hybrid! (Limit 6 per customer)

White Triangle Hybrid (Dypsis pembana x decaryi)
This is a new project we are working on. The mother is the
palm pictured on the left- a Dypsis pembana from the Pemba Island chain off
the east coast of Africa. This is the fastest and toughest
clumping Dypsis! We have cross-pollinating this with the
Triangle Palm (Dypsis decaryi) in order to create the must
sought-after "White Triangle" hybrid. The result
should look something like the 2nd and 3rd pictures above.
Coco
Queen Hybrid (Syagrus schizophylla x romanzoffiana F1; Syagrus
xMontgomeryana)This hybrid
originated in South Florida. We create our plants through
cross-pollination and grow them in limited quantities. It is
called a Coco Queen because it comes from two Queen Palm parents- the
Arikury Palm (Syagrus schizophylla) and the common Queen Palm (Syagrus
romanzoffiana)- and thus looks like a Coconut Palm with a straight
trunk. It is very fast growing, drought-tolerant, and handles
frost down to about 25 deg F.

Lady Palm (Hyophorbe lagencaulis x vershaffeltii F1)For those who
live in a Mediterranean or warm desert climate and would love to have a
Bottle Palm, this hybrid is for you! It is a cross between a
Bottle Palm and a Spindle Palm, both native to the Mascarene Islands.
The hybrid features a silvery-purple crownshaft, beige trunk, and
graceful dark green fronds. It is more cold hardy than either
parents. The Silver Lady Palm in the first picture is only about
four years old from a two-leaf seedling! The second picture shows
our Bottle Palm in the hybridization process.

Lady Palm Green (Wodyetia x Veitchia; Wodveitchia)Considered by some to
be the fastest palm tree- the Foxy Lady originated in Australia and has
been grown in the US for about 15 years. In Hawaii, these can grow
5 feet of clear trunk per year! Our plants are guaranteed to be
hybrids, so don't get fooled by the eBay vendors out there. These

*NEW* Wodyetia x Veitchia; Wodveitchia-
Seedlings
Variegated Foxy Lady PalmThis is the same as
the palm above, only with variegation (striping) on the leaves. It
is very rare and always in high demand by collectors. Plant these
in a half-day sun or filtered shade spot so the yellow parts of the
leaves don't burn.
Variegation can vary from multi-striped to half-and-half. We do
not accept special requests for type of variegation. The nicest
plants out of each batch will ship first.AVAILABLE 5/1/13 PRE-ORDER NOW!
